Language Learning

Learning Languages through Stories

- a creative approach

Stories in all languages contain a wealth of rich and stimulating language.  The narrative draws children in emotionally and stimulates their imagination which in turn engages their memory. The images, animation and text of our stories act as a bridge between mother tongue and target language enabling children to build on their existing linguistic knowledge and language experience in order to make meaning from what they see and hear.

The activities we propose engage the brain in what the brain likes to do best – thinking, problem solving, looking for patterns, making connections.  This brain activity leads to deep learning and it gives children a vast range of material that they will be able to draw upon when analyzing more complex language in later years. The teacher isn’t a language expert here, but a skilled facilitator who asks the kind of questions that probe and encourage children to puzzle over possibilities.
